„Making technologies with impact“

Veranstaltung 22.11.2022 17:30 Uhr - Terrassenraum 321

Talk with Leyla Yunis (Director Maker Institute Prague) and Ondrej Kyjanek (Creative Technologist, Prague)

Leyla and Ondrej have developed several ground breaking design and technology projects, from lightweight coreless filament winding systems, human-robot timber methodologies, and the creation of new fabrication laboratories to revolutionize polytechnic education in Prague.

They have jointly taught workshops in Colombia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, and Spain both for Industrial Design and Architecture schools.

Leyla Yunis is the Director of the Maker Institute, a space and organization dedicated to transforming polytechnic education together with CTU and UCT in Prague, through a hands-on approach via a FabLab. She is a computational designer,  educator and researcher.  For several years she has worked as a scientific researcher and led consultancies in Germany, Colombia, and the Czech Republic. Her areas of expertise lie at the intersection of technological advancements, new materials, biologically inspired methodologies, and algorithm-based processes for design.

Ondrej Kyjanek is software engineer and computational designer with expertise on robotic automation, human-robot collaboration in timber construction. He works professionally as a creative technologist and robotic specialist mainly in collaboration with MZ motion design GmbH in Stuttgart and software engineer for ioLabs in Zurich. His previous research focused on advanced robotic automation and human-robot collaboration in the timber construction industry. He works together with the Maker Institute in designing sensors, IoT solutions, and workflows that use technology for the greater good for both innovation and environmental solutions.
