We live in a post-migrant era. As a country of immigration, Germany has been shaped over the past 70 years by people who immigrated from diverse cultural backgrounds. Their children were raised here and are a natural and active part of society. Yet their identity and sense of belonging are constantly called into question. Although they are at home in Germany, they are judged by their migration history, experience discrimination, and are perceived as “different” both in their own country and in their parents’ homeland. Their identity is imposed from the outside, and their sense of belonging is questioned from multiple sides; their homeland is a liminal space.

The interdisciplinary exhibition “In der Heimat zu Gast” (A Guest in One’s Homeland) presents works by cultural creators who consider Germany their homeland and are an active part of society. They make a significant contribution to the cultural landscape and thus to democratic emancipation. They convey the realization that migrant culture is an essential shaping element of our cultural history.

Accompanying exhibition at MADLAB: “Relations: Mirror Machines 3”
How do people react to AI-generated results, how do technical systems mimic humans, and what relationship emerges between humans and machines in the process? During the winter semester 25/26, students from the Faculty of Design at Pforzheim University and the Faculty of Computer Science at Heilbronn University explored these and other questions in interdisciplinary teams. The project was supported by the AI Salon Heilbronn of the IPAI Foundation.
