Apply for the M.A. in Jewellery
Applicants have an interest in exploring the relationship between materials, technology and manufacturing. They take initiative, assume responsibility, are mature and professional in their approach, their work and their field of expertise. They are highly motivated to deepen their design skills in the interplay between society, the environment and market-relevant mechanisms and developments.
Below you will find detailed information about which documents to upload to which portal in order to apply for the MAJ. General information about the application process for Design PF Masters programs can be found on the page 'Apply for a Master's program'.

Application Documents
Please prepare the following documents:
- completed application form MAJ
- English language certificate: For applicants whose native language is NOT English, language certificates according to § 3g) apply: TOEFL (IBT minimum 87 points, ITP minimum 560 points), IELTS (6.5 and above), or TOEIC (785 pts. and above) or equivalent (European Reference CEFR Level B2). Further information for international students
Basic knowledge of German is recommended!
- a bachelor's degree / diploma in jewellery qualifying for a master's degree (at least 180 ECTS). We also welcome applications with degrees in accessories, fashion or product design with a special affinity for jewelry
- university entrance qualification (Abitur, International Baccalaureate, or similar)
- a portfolio:
- you determine the number of works yourself
- please provide us with any relevant additional information for each piece of work so that we can understand it
- for team projects, please explain what your area of responsibility was
- Films or other media can be integrated into the pdf as links
The submitted digital artworks will not be used by us and will be deleted after the application process has been completed.
- A letter of motivation (max. 1 page) in which you address the following points:
- What experience do you personally bring to the M.A. in Jewellery?
- What excites you about the M.A. in Jewellery program?
- What do you understand by "jewellery", what new potentials interest you? Tell us about a current work, innovation or exhibition that you find exciting and enriching.
- Describe what role you think jewellery has / will have on culture and society.
- Suggest a possible research project. We are interested in what you plan to do in the M.A. in Jewellery. Please describe why it interests you and how you propose to approach it.
- a letter of recommendation
- if applicable: proof of work experience
Application Deadlines
The start of the MA in Jewellery program is always in the winter semester (end of September / beginning of October).
Application deadline: 30 April
The application deadlines mentioned are cut-off deadlines, i.e. all applications that have not been uploaded by this date can no longer be considered. Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Your pdf file should be named according to the following scheme: LastnameFirstname_MAJ.pdf and must not be larger than 40 MB (please do not upload a 'pdf-portfolio'!).
